My story

it started with wanting to help.

I didn’t always know I wanted to be a dietitian. But I always knew I wanted to help people.

Growing up in a large Mexican American family in Phoenix, attending Catholic school, volunteering at church, service was just part of how I was raised. Helping people wasn’t something I thought about. It was just something I did.

When I got to the University of Arizona I started down the path of medicine, looking for a way to put that into practice. And somewhere along the way nutrition found me instead. I realized it wasn’t just a science. It was prevention. It was intervention. It was the kind of help that could change someone’s life before things got complicated.

That hit differently when I thought about my own family. Health issues were just part of life for the people I loved most. My nana included. I remember thinking if I had known then what I know now, could things have been different? So much can be prevented with just the right knowledge at the right time.

That thought never left me. It’s a big part of why I kept going through being the first in my family to finish college, through the long road to becoming a Registered Dietitian, through everything.

This work has always been personal.

here’s where I’ve been

My Work as a Dietitian

Before Lumina Well there were years of hands on clinical work that shaped everything I do today.

I spent time at two federally qualified health centers, serving as a WIC director at one and providing nutrition counseling in pediatrics and OB/GYN at the other. It was in those spaces that I first fell in love with women’s health and the power of meeting people where they are.

Lactation has been part of my work since 2018, even before I became a Registered Dietitian. Supporting mothers through that season is something I care deeply about.

I also worked at Banner Health where I managed enteral and parenteral nutrition alongside general clinical care. It rounded out my foundation in ways I still draw from today.

Now I provide telehealth nutrition care through Vida Health, specializing in weight loss and metabolic health. And in 2021 I co-founded Viva la Comida, a bilingual nutrition education company based in Phoenix focused on empowering women through knowledge and community.

My Wellness Journey

Weight is something I have navigated my whole life. And becoming a dietitian did not make that simpler. If anything it made me more aware of just how many factors play into it. Stress, hormones, life seasons, environment, mindset. The science only tells part of the story.

I had to learn that for myself.

In January 2025 I made a quiet commitment to show up for myself differently. I started Pilates and fell completely in love with it. What began as two classes a week became a consistent practice that changed not just my body but the way I think about movement altogether. I added strength training in early 2026 and it has become a solid part of my routine.

Life has also shifted in big ways. I moved from Phoenix to Seattle in late 2024 with my fiancĂ© and our 8 year old German Shepherd Bo. Our morning walks have become one of my favorite parts of the day. We are planning a wedding and thinking about starting a family. Preparing my body for fertility has become one of my biggest motivations and it has deepened my passion for women’s health in ways I didn’t expect.

I am not on the other side of my wellness journey. I am in the middle of it. And if you are too, you are in the right place.
